Before deciding Question notes

Take questions. Keep the answers.

Take these questions to the doctor or nurse planning your care, the service charging you or your insurance plan.

Ask the doctor or nurse planning your care what it is meant to do.

  • What is the exact medicine and product name?
  • What problem are we assessing?
  • What evidence fits this product and this goal?
  • What alternatives can we discuss?
  • What would make you decide against prescribing it?

Bring your current medicine list and the questions you most want answered. Ask for plain words when a term is unclear.

Ask the service to put the full charge in writing.

  • What is the charge for checking my health, and what is the separate charge for the medicine?
  • Which tests and later visits are included?
  • What is charged when an offer ends or the plan renews?
  • What happens to fees if no medicine is prescribed?
  • How do I stop the plan?

As of September 2026, the sampled online weight-care offers separated membership charges from medicine costs.

Source note A

A compounded medicine is made or changed to order for a patient.

Does a compounded medicine have FDA approval?

Medicines prepared to order had neither FDA approval nor an FDA review of quality, safety or results before sale as of September 2026.

Does an eligible Medicare use guarantee coverage?

As of September 2026, a use eligible for Medicare drug coverage could still depend on the plan’s medicine list and approval steps.

Does registering a business with FDA mean its medicine is approved?

As of September 2026, putting a business or medicine on an FDA register did not mean FDA had approved it. It also did not give permission to sell the medicine.

Source note B

Ask the plan what its answer covers.

  • Is this product covered for the intended condition?
  • What information is needed for approval?
  • What would I pay for the medicine?
  • How are the visits and tests handled?

Keep the plan’s answer with the service’s quote. Mark anything that still needs a reply.

Footnotes for this page

  1. A

The online offers we checked charged for care and medicine separately. Ask for both charges in your quote.

  2. B

Check approval for the medicine itself and payment with your insurance plan. A business being on an FDA register does not mean its medicine is approved.
